Can they find the traitors in time, or will an ancient enemy destroy their love before it even begins?
ALL OR NOTHING on sale this week
It’s Shameless Self-Promotion week this week at the Café, so I’m sharing the news about my new release.
This is book #4 in my Coxwell series and is the story of Zach Coxwell, family troublemaker. Zach finally meets a woman who isn’t easily charmed by him, right when he needs something to go right in his life. Here’s the back cover copy:
“Some people will do anything for true love — even if they have to fake it.
Jen Maitland had no use for handsome guys with easy charm — until she met Zach. He’s the perfect fake date to end her mother’s matchmaking scheme before it starts. Besides, he’d probably just use her and leave her like her ex-fiancé did. At least that’s what Jen tells herself. The only problem is that Zach isn’t as predictable as he appears…
Zach Coxwell hates commitment, but loves a challenge. Like the pretty bar waitress who turned him down flat for a date — only to invite him to her family’s Thanksgiving dinner. Zach knows he can make Jen smile — and he’s betting that he can unravel her mysteries — even if he has to do it over candied yams.
A tofu turkey, a sister who threatens to have Zach’s love-child, the untimely appearance of a knitted avocado — and Zach’s discovery of her real motive — combine to turn Thanksgiving dinner into Jen’s worst nightmare. Zach, on the other hand, has the time of his life. And when he makes Jen smile, he finally finds a commitment he’s willing to make…but persuading Jen to believe him will take everything he’s got.”
The early reviews are quite nice – here’s a sampling:
• Roundtable Reviews says: “Only pick up ALL OR NOTHING to read if you are interested in fully fleshed-out, believable characters, crisp plot action, dialogue that has the ring of daily conversation, and a story line that keeps the pages turning. This was my first Claire Cross novel, but it won’t be my last.”
• CoffeeTime Romance has given ALL OR NOTHING a five cup review!
• Fresh Fiction’s review says: “Again, Claire Cross does not disappoint.”
• The Romance Studio gave the book five hearts!
• Bookloons’ review says: “All or Nothing is a brilliant story. . . The book is filled with emotion, humor and a realistic storyline that will warm your heart long after you turn the last page.”
You can read about all four books in the Coxwell series on my site here.
Darlene Marshall Wins! Twice!
I’ve just returned from the 10th Epicon Conference, with two trophies in hand. My novels Captain Sinister’s Lady and Pirate’s Price tied for Best Historical Romance in the 2007 Eppie competition.
EPIC is the Electronically Published Internet Connection, an organization for ebook writers and publishers. I was thrilled to have both my books make the finals, but to win the award in a tie against myself blew me away.
Sure, I’m feeling a little schizophrenic, but it does help me answer that question, “Which of your books do you like the best?” The answer is, “The one that won the award.”[g]

Taliff’s Cure is a #2 Bestseller
I am so excited and had to share my wonderful news. I’m a brand new author and my first release, Taliff’s Cure, came out February 15 and has ended the month as a #2 Bestseller at eXtasy Books. I am so stunned and pleased at how well it’s done.
Anyway, back to writing the sequel to Taliff’s Cure, tentatively titled Amy’s Salvation. To read the blurb and excerpt for Taliff’s Cure and hear about my other upcoming books, don’t forget to check out my Website.
You all have a wonderful day!!

First Review for ALL OR NOTHING
I always worry about reviews until they start to come in – always have, so it seems that won’t be changing anytime soon. It’s great when the first review across the threshold is a really good one, as this one is, so I had to share.
This is from CoffeeTime Romance, and will be posted on their site for April when ALL OR NOTHING is released. The reviewer Jenn gave the book their highest ranking – 5 cups! – and I’m just a little bit excited. Here’s a sneak peek:
“Jen Maitland has put her life on hold for reasons of her own which she does not share. The walls around her heart are built to withstand the strongest of assaults, or so she thinks, until she meets a man who is willing to give his all to break them down.
Zachary Coxwell is the black sheep of his illustrious family, content to float through life without gathering much in the way of possessions, or anything else for that matter. Then he sees Jen and all that changes, for the better, he thinks. But she remains aloof and mysterious, and for the first time in his life, he has to work hard at something.
Jen’s first impression of Zach is not so favorable simply because of his old college buddies and the way they act around her. She and her sister hatch a scheme to use him to stop her mother’s matchmaking in its tracks, since he is a vain, conservative yuppie, something her hippy family is sure to hate. However, Zach is much more than he seems, and she finds out much too late to change her plans or to save her heart. Soon he is much too close for comfort because Jen is hiding a secret, and she thinks once she lets him know about it, he will be gone just like her last boyfriend. But Zach has surprised her once before, and he could just do it again.
Jen and Zach were both so wounded that you rooted for them to get themselves straight and then get it together. When they finally start to, you bite your nails, hoping that nothing will happen to mess it up. I loved this story because it was so heartwarming. I ended up crying quite a few times, but I am really glad that the hero and heroine, flawed and all, gave me what I wanted in the end, and that is a happy and realistic ever after. The secondary characters were so vivid, and funny, but never intruded; only supported as they were supposed to do. However, I was delighted to find out that All or Nothing is part of a series of books based on the Coxwell family, so I can find out about them too. Ms. Cross writes a romance the way it should be done, in a book and, if you are lucky, in real life too, beautifully.”
