In romance I would have to say I read contemporaries the least, and Regency era historicals the most. I have a low patience threshold for sf and paranormals as well. Most of them don't appeal to me, but some, like Linnea Sinclair's sf novels are an autobuy. Go figure.

I like the Regency era the most because I'm a history buff, and a Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer fan, and most of my own books are set in that era.

I agree with Pam. I also read for escape and don't want to have to work too hard at it. That's one reason I don't generally read straight mysteries, because there are usually too many characters and it gets hard to keep them all straight. I love to read romantic comedy (if the author's sense of humor matches mine), historical romances, and straight romances. I also read a lot of romantic suspense since that's what I write:))). Actually, I'll read just about anything. I just read a mermaid book, recently read a time travel, etc. As long as the romance looks intriguing, I'll try it. I'm not much into erotica or more mainstream books without the HEA.
