Wedding Stories From Hell - June Contest

I’ve already screamed my news to the rafters over on RWAOnline, and now I’m doing it here!  I’ve been asked to participate in a ghoulishly themed anthology entitled “WEDDINGS FROM HELL” (Avon Books, May 2008).

Fellow authors Maggie Shayne, Kathryn Smith, Jeaniene Frost and I will put together four fiendish tales of paranormal pandemonium centered around (you guessed it!) big, fat supernatural weddings.

In keeping with that theme, my June 2007 contest is called “Wedding Stories From Hell“!  I know a few of you have some!

Leave a comment here, or visit my website at http://www.tgarey.com and leave me a message there, and tell me a story about the worst wedding you’ve ever attended; the ugliest bridesmaid dress you’ve ever seen (or had to wear), the most embarrassing wedding toast you’ve ever heard, the biggest Bridezilla you’v ever had to put up with, the drunken groomsman who groped you at the reception - whatever wedding horror you’ve had to endure! Did your future mother-in-law get drunk at the rehearsal dinner and tell you all about wonderful your fiance’s ex-girlfriend was?  Did your second cousin once removed grab the microphone at the reception in hopes of launching a singing career?  I wanna hear all about it!  LOL

The winner will win a signed Advance Reader Copy of Dead Girls Are Easy (in bookstores August 28th), and I’ll feature the top three stories on my blog and my website.

Good luck, and I can’t wait to hear about your wedding stories from hell!

The worst wedding reception I ever attended, ended up in arrests. After the bride and groom left the reception, the partying kicked up a gear. Three people had a little too much bubbly. In the parking lot, they ended up getting into a confrontation with some other hotel guests (still not sure who was at fault there, because both parties had been drinking). This got them kicked off the hotel property. Well, after they meandered around town for a well, they came back to the hotel, as they had a room there for the night with some other friends. They were still loud and roudy and the police were called back, which involved a chase up and down the elevators and the use of the fire extinguisher on the cops. At last, the drunk trio were arrested and thrown in the pokey. Ugh! Definitely not a story a bride wants to remember when she thinks of her reception.

Lord, the stories I could tell.

When I was 25, my best friend’s wedding was a fiasco. Her brother-in-law tried to french kiss me in front of my husband who had a fit and threatened to use his military training to do major damage.

The bride and groom waltzed across the dance floor gracefully, until he dipped her deeply and promptly dropped her. Afterward, the groom got drunk and urinated in a potted plant on the edge of the dance floor and his pants fell around his ankles. Afterward, everyone had a blast telling the bride of his insufficiencies.

The mother of the bride spent hours before the ceremony wrapping rice in lace so all one had to do was untie the ribbon and throw the rice. Many people chose to throw little rice missiles at the couple, giving the bride a black eye. She fell against the groom when hit with the rice, pushed him down the steps of the hotel and he broke his leg. They spent their wedding night in the hospital and their dream trip, a honeymoon in Hawaii, was cancelled.

Some people may recognize parts of this from one of my books. LOL

OMG, Tianna, a black eye and a broken leg? I’m dying here! Of course, after urinating in a potted plant, the groom might’ve deserved that push down the stairs!

    Thanks for sharing!
